Resolve… It's the determination to do what needs to be done without ever turning back. To overcome whatever obstacles come your way you have to possess a strong mind.

What is a strong mind? Simply possessing the capacity to face challenges head-on and overcome them. It's having the mental skills, as well as the resources and capability to handle any type of difficulty. When you have a strong mind, you possess the stamina to deal with a challenge without draining your inner strength.

Think about this. Have you ever told yourself that you will avoid sweet stuff only to have a batch of brownies arrive in front of you? Or, you said you were going to erase all your bad habits, and then you're hit with an event that keeps you from quitting. Or you swear you're going to lose 25 pounds only to keep eating the same poor diet?

It's as though a test appears knowing you have just placed your focus on it. While your heart seemed more than willing, your mind and body are resistant. Every roadblock can be overcome if you strengthen your resolve.

Resolve is the never quit attitude.

How To Strengthen Your Resolve

• Take a Break

You have earned it! You don't have to exhaust yourself just to make a difference. You're a work in progress and it's okay to be a work in progress. You're not going to get to where you want to be all at once, it's a process.

• Authenticity

If you take the traditional life path then people will probably accept you as you come. They are more likely to respect you, however, if you make choices you want to make and stick to them. More importantly, you will respect yourself more if you make honest decisions that align with who you are. Never give up being your authentic self.

• Expect a Challenge

As long as you exist you will deal with difficulties in life. If everything were great all the time, you'd have nothing to do and you would probably be pretty bored. Life will always be filled with adversity and difficulty. When you deal with a problem you might feel as though you're the only person dealing with problems, but you still know deep down there are people much worse off. That doesn't make it any easier to cope with, of course, but it does help to recognize that adversity and difficulty are unavoidable. It's a part of like that you need to expect and you have to accept the challenge.

• Delay Temptation

If good things happen to people who wait then you have to practice waiting. This is an active decision to not do what you want to now, choosing instead to go bigger another time. It's an excellent way to test and strengthen your resolve. You will be more successful in every aspect of your life if you learn to master the delay of temptation.

• Consider the Consequences

What is the consequence of quitting? You're responsible for the choices you make, therefore if you want to walk away you have to consider the consequences of doing so.

• Honesty

If you are never honest with yourself how will you ever know what it is you really want? You won't achieve what you want, or anything really, if you're not passionate enough about it to do whatever it takes. There's a fearlessness in honesty.

You are capable of increasing your resolve. Positive self-talk can help you boost your confidence and help you achieve success.
